The idea
Split the second number into tens and ones. Multiply. Then add. The miss is stopping before that add.
24 × 13.
13 is 10 + 3.
24 × 10 = 240.
24 × 3 = 72.
240 + 72 = 312.
18 × 7.
18 is 10 + 8.
10 × 7 = 70.
8 × 7 = 56.
70 + 56 = 126.
Write both pieces. Add them. That sum is the answer.
